The fare structure is based on the Tag-on/Tag-off principle for the parts of the network (metro & railway) which are closed, while on board Buses and Trams the situation is Tag-on only and you pay the fare displayed at the time you board. On the old tram line, you pay a flat fare as you exit. If you pay cash you use the farebox. For a purist, one may regret that all this is not very homogeneous but it does not seem to bother to much the passengers.
